Don't miss this incredible FREE event to help you start baking fresh bread, growing more fresh, healthy vegetables and raising chickens and farm animals right in your backyard!

Starting your own homestead is an incredibly rewarding experience, but it’s not always easy, especially if you're new to gardening, raising livestock, or traditional skills.

Have you ever bitten into a store-bought tomato, only for it to have zero flavor, taste watery and gritty? If so, you've probably bitten into a tomato that was several months old. That's why people say nothing tastes as good as a homegrown tomato! It isn't just tomatoes though- most of our 'food' these days is old, lacking in nutrients and flavor.

If you want to provide your family with the freshest, most nutritious, and delicious food possible, starting with homegrown produce, happy livestock, and traditional skills is the key. Rather than spending a fortune on organic options or making frequent trips to the farmer's market, imagine the satisfaction of growing your own vegetables, raising healthy animals, and mastering age-old techniques.

Maybe you want to...

  • Serve fresh, flavorful vegetables and farm-fresh meat, eggs and dairy on your dinner table each night, instead of settling for bland, store-bought options
  • Raise livestock confidently, ensuring your animals are healthy and well-cared for, while avoiding the concerns of store-bought meat
  • Plan and manage your homestead effectively, so you can enjoy a successful garden, healthy livestock, and skillful kitchen practices without feeling overwhelmed
  • Discover how to support your family's health and well-being with old-fashioned skills like herbalism, cheese making, and sourdough baking, creating nourishing and homemade solutions that enrich your daily life.
  • Make your homesteading journey enjoyable and fulfilling with creative, hands-on activities like crafting herbal remedies, baking artisanal sourdough, and caring for livestock, turning everyday tasks into rewarding and fun experiences.

You can have all of those things.

The best part: Homesteading doesn't have to be complicated.

"I wish I had discovered Shelby DeVore when I started homesteading last year. The summits and events that she hosts are both informative and inspiring! In her classes, she does a great job of giving you the nuts and bolts for the basics and explains complex topics simply and clearly. I was armed with much better information to get started this year and I can finally stop Googling the things that are not going quite right on the homestead."

The HomesteadHer Summit will show you how to create a thriving homestead, from growing fresh vegetables and herbs to raising livestock and mastering traditional skills – even if you’re new to homesteading or feel short on time and space.

"I’m a seasoned homesteader with 40+ years of experience. I was interested in the summit to find ideas for choosing better what I really need to be doing for my husband and I on the farm. I was able to get some really good information from the summit and walked away with a much better plan for my next steps. Thank you for offering this summit. It was very enjoyable and informative. I would have loved to have this when I started my homestead decades ago."

Hey, I'm Shelby DeVore!

I’m a multi-generational homesteader with over 20 years of experience growing my own food. I'm also a former high school and college agriculture teacher. In my teaching career, I spent several years teaching numerous students and community members the skills needed to garden and raise livestock.

Most homesteading educators are either ‘experts’ because they’ve grown their own vegetables or raised livestock successfully with no prior experience or they spent thousands getting an education about crops or livestock with little real-world experience. I have the unique perspective of doing both. I want to teach you the best methods to homestead successfully that will put real food on your table, whether you’re looking for fresh vegetables, fruit, or herbs or delicious, homegrown meat, eggs or dairy.

Although I've always been a homesteader, I didn't realize just how beneficial this lifestyle can really be until a few years ago. In 2021, I suffered from a rare type of heart attack and had a stroke. I was 30 years old and had three young kids at the time. I learned then that I was likely to have repeat heart attacks so I dove deep with my team of doctors to best support my health. Homesteading intentionally has been a huge part of that. The things I've learned since then are game-changing.

I created the HomesteadHer Summit to help you to learn how to confidently grow more fresh vegetables, raise chickens and other livestock, master old-fashioned skills and embrace a simpler, healthier, more enjoyable way of life.  Join me to learn how to get started now.

Would you believe me if I told you that the 'fresh' vegetables you get in the grocery store could be months old?

Real talk here: I have a Master's degree in Agriculture and I spent nearly seven years teaching high school and college agriculture classes. At one point, I managed a commercial greenhouse that grew plants for people to put into their garden. I'm very familiar with big food companies and commercial farming.

I'll be the first one to tell you that if you want the highest quality food, you need to grow it at home. You may think that if you buy 'organic', 'non-GMO' or 'fresh' at the grocery store, that you're getting better quality. The truth is that many commercially grown vegetables are weeks, even months old when you get them. Some things can even be over a year old when you buy it, despite the tag that says it's fresh!

Not only does this impact the flavor and texture of what you're eating (hello, watery, gritty tomatoes), but it also impacts the nutritional quality of what you're eating. Within hours of picking a vegetable, the nutrients in it start to break down. That means if it's weeks or months old, the nutritional value can decrease by as much as 80%.

And the sad reality is that this is true for more than just tomatoes and produce. Our meat, eggs and dairy are low quality. There are prepackaged foods and medicines that claim to be healthy or 'natural', but a quick look at the ingredients shows they're anything but that. It's not secret that we're unhealthier both mentally and physically than any time in human history. It's time to change that.

In order to eat healthy, you need to have access to real, fresh food. The best way to do that is to grow and produce it yourself. During the HomesteadHer Summit, I'm going to show you how to plan and plant your first garden, feel confident raising chickens and other livestock, and finally take the steps to mastering traditional skills like baking sourdough, making more food from scratch and embracing a simpler, healthier lifestyle- even if you have no idea what you're doing or feel like you don't have the time or space.
