A lot of chicken people are also frugal (which is part of why they own chickens to begin with!). Luckily, that will make your job a little bit easier when you're shopping for them.
There are so many awesome chicken gifts out there that they've probably seen and want, but are too frugal to buy it for themselves.
I know, because I'm one of those people! I see neat tools and home items that have animals on them and they're really cute, but I can't cough up the money myself to buy them.
Your chicken keeping friend is probably the same way!

Chicken lovers love to pamper their chickens and make sure that they are taken care of.
These gifts will make their job of taking care of chickens easier.
Nesting Herbs
Nesting herbs are an excellent gift for chicken keepers.
There's nothing worse than going into a chicken coop to check for eggs and walk into a coop that reeks of poop or ammonia. Nesting herbs are put straight into the nesting boxes and can be sprinkled straight onto the bedding on the floor.
The nesting herbs can add a wonderful fragrance to the coop and they can also be used to help keep chickens healthy. There are even herbs that can help prevent chicken mites, a concern that many chicken keepers have to deal with.
Predator Control Light
Backyard chicken keepers know all too well the dangers that nighttime predators present.
Even the best made coop is subject to predator break ins during the night.
The predator control light is designed to scare off nocturnal predators. It charges during the day and is solar powered.
At night, the lights flash to warn predators that they have been 'discovered'. It can be used to protect chicken coops, gardens and other outdoor areas subject to attacks from nocturnal scavengers.
Automatic Coop Door
This automatic coop door is the perfect gift for the chicken keeper that has free ranged chickens.
The door is installed onto the coop. It's solar powered and weather proof.
Open the coop in the morning and close in the evening automatically by setting the timer or using the easily adjusted Light Sensor.
ChickenGuard automatic door openers save you getting up in the morning and protect your chickens from predators.
You can also press the button if you wish to open or close the coop manually.
All in one design, no complicated wiring or cabling. Attach the ChickenGuard door opener to your chicken coop, connect the cord to the door, and you're set.
Portable Chicken Run
Many backyard chicken keepers love being able to free range their chickens in their yards.
Unfortunately, once the chickens are let out of the coop, you can't determine where they will go from there.
They may end up on your porch, patio furniture or the kid's swing set. And wherever chickens go, chicken poop appears.
That's not what you want to see when you go to sit down in a lawn chair to relax!
The portable chicken run is lightweight and allows you to determine where your chickens can go in your yard.
When you aren't using it, simply fold it up and store it.
This is also a perfect way to introduce young birds to the flock or bring young birds outside once they are too big for the brooder.
The portable run allows them to access the grass and forage, just in an enclosed area. When they are ready to go to another spot, pick the run up and move it to another area.
Nesting Box Pads
Nesting box pads are a thicker and sturdier alternative to shavings, which is what most chicken houses have in the nesting boxes.
Shavings get kicked out of the nesting boxes easily. Not enough shavings can cause eggs to break when they fall onto the hard nesting box surface.
Nesting pads are woven together thickly and are much harder to kick out of the box.
Eggs will always be on top of the nest, and you won't have to deal with digging through the dirty shavings to find eggs.
The nesting pad will provide plenty of cushion to prevent the eggs from cracking when they are layed.
Broody hens will enjoy the thick, more natural nest for their babies.
Although we don't really think about chickens 'playing', there are some fun gifts out there that chickens will enjoy just as much as their chicken parents.
Chicken Harness and Leash
Before you ask yourself why there is a chicken harness and leash on here, ask yourself why there wouldn't be a chicken harness and leash on here.
Chicken people love their chickens like dog people love their dogs. They love their chickens like they are part of the family.
If your backyard chicken keeper doesn't want to let them free range unsupervised, then they would love this harness and leash to guide them around the yard.
Don't have a dog to take to the park? Take your chicken!
Chicken Treat Holder
Chicken treats are easy to find in stores. Flock blocks and mealworms can provide seeds, insects and fats in a compact treat.
But what about vegetables? Chickens need to eat their daily dose of vegetables just like other omnivorous animals.
Fill this treat ball full of fresh fruits or vegetables and watch the chickens go crazy over it.
Hang it from the coop to turn the treat into entertainment that all of the chickens will want to get in on.
In the summer, put cool or frozen vegetables and fruit in the ball to cool your chickens off while they play and eat.
Hanging Chicken Toy
You've seen hanging toys similar to this for parrots, parakeets or other birds. Why wouldn't chickens love them?
Chickens enjoy pecking at rough materials to keep their beaks in top shape.
This hanging toy has hard wooden blocks, perfect for pecking. There are also loofah pieces that are safe for pecking as well.
The items on this hanging toy are colored with food-safe dyes that are non-toxic for chickens.
Simply hang the toy from the roof of the coop or run and watch your chickens have fun!
Chicken Swing
Chicken swings are a wonderful way to entertain your chickens. Hang the swing in the run and watch your chickens perch on it and swing.
If you have multiple chickens, you may want to get more than one as each one is only big enough for one chicken.
This is sure to be a hit in the coop!
Chicken Tutu
Yes, you can buy chicken tutus!
These super cute tutus fit snugly onto your hens with elastic straps that go under the chicken's wings.
This is a perfect gift idea for the chicken lover that has a flock full of ladies!
Chicken Saddle
If a flock has a rooster, it's possible that the hens in the flock could be missing feathers from the rooster.
When a rooster tries to mate with a hen, he often grabs onto her feathers, sometimes pulling them out.
Chicken saddles were created to help protect the feathers on the hen's back that could be pulled out from the rooster.
These cute hen saddles will protect your hens. The saddles are comfortable and even have a small section that covers and protects the top of the wing.
Chicken lovers are frugal and love to learn more about how to raise happy and healthy chickens.
These are some of my favorite books that your chicken lover is sure to enjoy.
Chicken Health Handbook
This book is written by the same author that wrote "Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens".
In this book, Gail covers the common diseases and ailments that plague chickens of all breeds, ages and sizes.
There are charts in the book to recognize symptoms and determine the underlying illness so that you can treat the birds and get them back to good health.
There are also helpful descriptions of troublesome ailments of all types, from poor egg production to crooked toe syndrome.
Practical remedies and gentle preventative care measures in the book will help your chicken keeper's beloved flock stay happy, healthy, and safe.
How to Speak Chicken
This is a really fun and informative book for the chicken keeper that wants to know more about how the chicken's mind works.
Best-selling author Melissa Caughey knows that backyard chickens are like any favorite pet — fun to spend time with and fascinating to observe.
Her hours among the flock have resulted in this quirky, irresistible guide packed with firsthand insights into how chickens communicate and interact, use their senses to understand the world around them, and establish pecking order and roles within the flock.
Combining her up-close observations with scientific findings and interviews with other chicken enthusiasts, Caughey answers unexpected questions such as Do chickens have names for each other? How do their eyes work? and How do chickens learn?
The Chicken Who Saved Us
The award-winning, laugh-out-loud, reach-for-the-tissues story of an autistic boy’s desperate struggle to survive a deadly illness and the backyard chicken who transforms his life into a tale of improbable hope and miraculous healing.
Eight-year-old Andrew is autistic and bilingual.
He speaks English–and Chicken.
With words limited by autism, Andrew lives in a fantastic world where chickens talk and superheroes come alive.
But when he tells his pet chicken Frightful that his body is trying to kill him, it launches Andrew’s family and an entire medical community into a decade-long quest for answers.
This beautiful, fierce, and refreshingly honest memoir takes readers on a mother’s journey through the complex landscape of modern medicine to discover the healing bond between a boy and Frightful, the chicken who saves them all.
Chicken lovers will enjoy these gifts that let others know how much they love their chickens.
Egg Skelter
Many backyard chicken keepers know that it's safe to keep farm fresh eggs unrefrigerated.
The egg skelter keeps the eggs on the counter and out of the way. It also keeps the oldest eggs towards the bottom, where they get used first to make sure that there are always fresh eggs available.
The egg skelter is designed to hold 24 eggs, but the size of the eggs will determine exactly how many eggs it can hold.
How pretty would this be in a country kitchen with white, brown and green eggs?
Chicken Measuring Spoons and Holder
This adorable and whimsical ceramic measuring spoon set is sure to put a smile on the face of any chicken lover.
The measuring spoons are chicks and the holder is the mother hen!

Chicken Whisperer Clothes
When you have backyard chickens, it's easy to think of them as family. You've seen the 'mama bear' clothes, so why wouldn't your chicken keeping friend or family member want to show the world that he/she is the ultimate chicken whisperer?
There are some really cute shirts and hats that you can grab to flaunt your love of chickens.
This Chicken Whisperer shirt with Heihei on it is one of my favorites. Heihei is a chicken from the Disney movie Moana. He's adorable because he's not the brightest crayon in the box. I'm sure you've heard that chickens aren't the smartest animals. If all chickens were like Heihei, well, we probably wouldn't have chickens anymore.
Get the chicken whisperer shirt with Heihei on it here
This chicken whisper shirt is perfect for chilly days. I love how pretty and stoic the rooster is on this shirt!
Here are a couple of other favorites that would make any chicken person's day:

I love the trend of farm animals wearing the tied bandanas that pop up every where lately. This is the first one that I have seen with a chicken on it though. This shirt would be a cute addition to any chicken keeper's wardrobe.

Eggwhite Facial Soap
Eggwhite soap, also called Belgian Beauty Bars, contain eggwhite proteins, chamomile and letchin to cleanse the face.
Eggwhite proteins are excellent for repairing and rebuilding. The soap foams up into a protein-rich lather that smells wonderful.
Now your chicken loving friends will be able to add this to the list of why they think chickens are so cool.

This egg holding apron has 12 egg sized pockets to hold eggs individually.
No more rolling and breaking in a bucket or trying to juggle too many eggs back to the house.
Put each egg in a pocket and get them all safely inside, unbroken!
